The colours

Red, yellow, green or blue, in stock. A custom colour is made to order, using the period colour codes or a shade of your choice.

How it is made

Four steps, from the mould to the clear coat.

  1. The moulding

The bar is moulded in resin from the mould used to make the front of the Volkswagen T1.

  2. The joinery

After it comes out of the mould, a joiner fits the shelves, the drawer, the top and the legs. The wood is MDF, chosen for its stiffness and its strength under repeated handling.

  3. The electrics

An electrician fits the box that switches the lights and the mains socket, 110–200 V. The indicators (P21W bulbs), the headlights (H4 bulbs) and the sidelights (W5W bulbs) can come on separately, or all at once.

  4. The paint

The fibreglass is prepared, then finished in automotive acrylic paint, with an automotive clear coat. Colours follow the period codes, or a custom shade.

Once it is finished

The cabinet plugs into a mains socket. The storage, including a drawer that locks with a key, can be arranged as needed. The legs are stainless steel, and the castors make it easy to move.
